Masters in Healthcare Management Scholarships, Grants and Loans

In the healthcare management field, many administrative positions, especially high-level ones, such as hospital CEO, require you to have an advanced degree, not just a bachelor’s degree. Unfortunately, masters’ degree programs in the field of healthcare management can be somewhat expensive, and many student opt not to go back to school because of the cost. Don’t get stuck in a low-level position if you have aspirations to continue climbing that ladder! Scholarships, grants, and loans can help you pay for school, and in some cases, your education could be completely free.

Healthcare Management Scholarships

Healthcare management scholarships, which are sometimes called fellowships at the master’s degree level, provide you with money for school that does not have to be repaid after you graduate. Scholarships are given to students based on merit, so you’ll need to demonstrate academic success in most cases to be awarded one. In the case of fellowships, that money may come attached with a teaching or research assistant responsibility. Most schools have scholarships specifically for their students, but you can also look to outside organizations and government departments for scholarships to get your master’s degree in healthcare management. Some great places to start your search include the Connecticut Women in Healthcare Management, the Institute for Diversity in Health Care Management, and the American Society for Radiologic Technicians.

Healthcare Management Grants

Like scholarships, grants are available for students from colleges, but you can also find grants from private organizations and the government. They do not have to be repaid, making them a free source of money for school, but unlike scholarships, you have to show financial need in order to qualify for most grants. Grants are available from the US Department of Health & Human Services, as well as a number of other organizations.

Healthcare Management Loans

Healthcare management loans provide you with money for school, but they do have to be repaid, while scholarships and rants do not. If you apply for loans specifically for students, you are usually can have payments deferred until several months after you graduate. This gives you time to use your degree to find a job, which helps you avoid missing payments or making late payments. If you already have a job in this industry, some employers will pay your student loans through tuition reimbursement programs.
